A story that anyone working redeliveries in Dublin, Shannon or elsewhere will recognise.
An aircraft comes back at the end of its lease. The records show a cabin modification embodied years ago under an STC. The lessor's technical representative asks the obvious questions: which revision of the STC, which approved data, and do the embodied configuration and the ICA in the maintenance programme match it?
The STC has been revised twice since. The work package references revision A. The ICA in the AMP were moved to revision C when the CAMO changed. Nobody can say, without going back to the STC holder, whether this is a revision A aircraft with revision C instructions or whether something was re-embodied along the way.
Nobody did anything wrong at the time. The STC holder, the Part 145 and the CAMO each kept their own records correctly. The gap was in the links between them.
So the aircraft sits while three organisations reconstruct a configuration history, and the redelivery date moves, with its daily cost.
If you handle redeliveries: which modification records most often hold up a lease return in your experience?
How many of you work with DOAs that grant you secure access to the design and manual data, directly on their platform, without the need to write emails, make phone calls, and register on them thru a lengthy process?
